HP 2000C Professional Series Color Printers - An Ink Cartridge or Printhead Information Page Prints
If the computer has bidirectional (two-way) communication with the HP 2000C Professional Series Color printer, the printer will be able to send information to the computer about its status. If the computer does not have two-way communication with the printer, the printer cannot notify the computer of its status. Under such conditions, when there is a printhead or ink cartridge problem that requires user intervention, the printer will automatically print a status page to notify the user of the problem.
There are two such pages that can be printed--a Printhead Information page and an Ink Cartridge Information page. Under all conditions where the printer requires attention, the amber Attention light on the printer's front panel will blink. It is possible to obtain more information about the error condition by determining the Attention-Needed error code generated by the front panel indicator lights.
Printhead Information Page
The Printhead Information page shows information individually for each printhead, black (B), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). The diagrams show how to access the printheads and how to remove or insert them. The shaded portion of each line shows the approximate useful life left in the printhead. If the right end of the shaded portion is at the right end of the green dashed line, the printhead has a full useful life remaining. If the right end of the shaded portion is in the area of the red dashed line, the printhead is nearing the end of its useful life. If there is no shaded area for a printhead and the square color patch is missing, that printhead needs attention. Printhead problems that will trigger a Printhead Information page to print are:
Various internal printhead problems that require the printhead to be replaced with a new HP No. 10 Printhead.
A missing or improperly inserted printhead. This includes printheads with the protective shipping tape not removed and still covering the printhead flex circuit.
Ink Cartridge Information Page
The Ink Cartridge Information page shows information individually for each ink cartridge, black (B), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). The diagram shows how to remove or insert an ink cartridge. The color bar over each dashed line shows the approximate amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridge. If there is no color bar for an ink cartridge and the square color patch is missing, that ink cartridge needs attention. Ink cartridge problems that will trigger an Ink Cartridge Information page to print are:
The ink cartridge is out of ink.
Various internal ink cartridge problems that require the ink cartridge to be replaced with a new HP No. 10 Ink Cartridge.
