HP 2000C Professional Series Color Printers - Front Panel Light Indicators

Definition of the printer lights
The printer’s three light indicators (in order from top to bottom) and their indications are listed below.
Printer Light
Indications
Power (green)
Off indicates that the printer is turned off or not receiving power.
On indicates that the printer is turned on and ready to print.
Blinking indicates that the printer is powering on or off.
Attention (amber)
Off indicates normal printer operation.
Blinking indicates a condition that requires operator intervention (such as out of paper or printer is paused). See the Trouble shooting tab in the HP 2000C Toolbox or the "Possible causes and solutions for blinking lights" below for details on diagnosing the condition.
Activity (green)
Off indicates that the printer is idle (waiting for a print job).
Blinking indicates that the printer is processing a print job.

Printer Light
Possible Causes
Solution
Power light is off.
The printer is off.
Press the POWER button.
The printer is not connected to an active power source.
1. Verify that the printer is connected to an active power outlet.
2. Make sure that there are no additional switches or breakers turned off, such as the power switch on a power strip.
3. Disconnect and reconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
4. Try a different power outlet.
5. If the problem continues at the second power outlet, call HP Customer Care. See the User's Guide or the Warranty section of hp2000c.com for phone numbers.
The printer failed.
Call HP Customer Care. See the User's Guide or the Warranty section of hp2000c.com for phone numbers.
Power light is flashing.
The printer is powering on or off.
Wait a few moments until the printer finishes powering on or off.
Attention light is flashing.
Printing is paused.
Press the RESUME button.
The printer is out of paper.
Load more paper and press the RESUME button.
Make sure that the printer is set to the appropriate paper tray if the accessory paper tray is installed.
Missing printhead
Open the printhead access cover and insert the missing printhead(s).
Missing ink cartridge
Open the ink cartridge door and insert the missing ink cartridge(s).
Tape is still on a printhead.
Open the printhead access cover and remove any tape found on the flex circuit or nozzle area of the printheads.
Flex circuit removed from printhead.
The printhead is damaged. Replace the printhead.
Improperly seated printhead
Open the printhead access cover and reinsert each printhead.
Improperly seated ink cartridge
Open the ink cartridge door and reinsert each ink cartridge.
The printhead access cover is open.
Close the printhead access cover.
Printer Light
Possible Causes

Carriage stall
1. Open the printhead access cover and make sure that the carriage latch is closed.
2. If the problem continues, call HP Customer Care. See the User's Guide or the Warranty section of hp2000c.com for phone numbers.
Incompatible ink cartridge
Open the ink cartridge door and replace the incompatible ink cartridge with the correct HP ink cartridge.
Paper is jammed in the printer.
1. Turn the printer off and back on to see if the printer can clear the jam. If not, proceed with steps 2-5.
2. Turn the printer off.
3. Remove all the paper from the IN tray and OUT tray then remove the OUT tray.
4. Carefully pull the jammed paper out of the printer. The wheels will turn with the power off, allowing any paper caught in the wheels to be removed.
5. After all the jammed paper is removed, replace the OUT tray and turn the printer on.
Paper is jammed in the accessory paper tray.
1. Turn the printer off and back on to see if the printer can clear the jam. If not, proceed with steps 2-5.
2. Turn the printer off and remove all the paper from the IN tray and OUT tray.
3. Remove the OUT tray by lifting it up halfway then pulling it out.
4. Lift the printer off the accessory paper tray and set the printer on its side.
5. Carefully pull the jammed paper from the input slot on the bottom of the printer or from the output slot on the top of the paper tray.
6. Replace the OUT tray.
7. Replace the printer on top of the accessory paper tray and turn the printer on.
Printer Light
Possible Causes
Solution
Paper is loaded in the wrong tray.
Load the paper in the correct tray.
Out of ink
Replace the empty ink cartridge.
Expired ink
Replace the expired ink cartridge.
Paper size error
Replace the paper with the proper size paper. The printer does not operate properly with paper longer than 14 inches.
Manual feed is selected as the Paper Source in the driver.
Select the appropriate Paper Source in the driver.
All three lights are flashing.
Printer error
1. Turn the printer off then on.
2. If the printer resets, try printing again.
3. If the printhead access cover was removed while the printer was turned off, replace the cover then cycle the power on the printer (turn the printer off then on).
4. If the problem persists, call HP Customer Care. See the User's Guide or the Warranty section of hp2000c.com for phone numbers.
