HP Deskjet F735 All-in-One - Replacing Ink Cartridges

1. Press the Power button () to turn the product on, if it is not already on.

     caution:

   If the product is off when the ink-cartridge door is opened, the product will not release the cartridges.

2. Open the ink-cartridge door. The carriage moves to the far-right side of the product. If the carriage does not move to the right side, turn the product off, and then turn it back on.

3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on an ink cartridge to release it.

   • To replace the tri-color ink cartridge, remove the ink cartridge from the left slot.
   • To replace the black ink cartridge, remove the ink cartridge from the right slot.
4. Pull the ink cartridge toward you out of its slot.
5. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging, being careful to touch only the black plastic. Gently remove the plastic tape using the pink pull tab.

   1. Copper-colored contacts (do not touch)
   2. Plastic tape with pink pull tab (remove before installing)
   3. Ink nozzles under tape (do not touch)

     caution:

   Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

6. Slide the new ink cartridge at a slight upward angle into the empty slot, and gently push it until it snaps into place.
   • To install a tri-color ink cartridge, insert it into the left slot.
   • To install a black ink cartridge, insert it into the right slot.

7. Close the ink-cartridge door.

   The product prints a cartridge alignment sheet because it recognizes that the ink cartridges are new. Save this sheet to align the ink cartridges.

note:

If the alignment page printed automatically after installing the ink cartridges, skip to step 4 in this procedure.

1. Open HP Solution Center using one of the following methods.
   • Windows XP: On the Windows task bar, click Start, click All Programs, point to HP, and then click HP Solution Center.
   • Windows Vista: On the Windows task bar, click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, point to HP, and then click HP Solution Center.
2. In HP Solution Center, click Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox. The printer Toolbox opens.
3. Click the Device Services tab, and then click Align the Print Cartridges. The product prints a cartridge alignment sheet.

     caution:

   Printing alignment sheets shortens the life of cartridges. Print them only when necessary.

4. Lift the product lid.
5. Place the alignment sheet on the glass so the top of the sheet is on the right side with the text facing down. Make sure that the sheet is aligned with the right-front corner of the glass.

6. Lower the product lid.
7. Press the Scan button () on the product control panel. The product aligns the cartridges.

8. Recycle or otherwise discard the alignment sheet.
