DESCRIPTION
In HP computer setup, under the Advanced tab, there is a feature called Restrict USB Devices. This document explains the purpose of the 3 setting options for that feature:

RESOLUTION
Explanation of the 3 available settings for the Restrict USB Devices feature.
  • Allow all USB Devices:

    This is default setting, all USB ports will be enabled.

  • Allow only keyboard and mouse:

    Only enable USB ports that have USB keyboard or mouse connected during POST. All other USB ports will be disabled.

  • Allow all but storage devices and hubs:

    Only disables USB ports that have USB storage devices or USB hubs connected during POST.
NOTE: The Restrict USB devices settings are applied only during POST. Ports will remain enabled or disabled according to the selection, even if specified device types are added or removed after the computer boots into Windows.
