This document shows you how to clear original document jams. The original document jam can occur in front of the scanner, inside the scanner and in the exit area of the scanner. When a document jams while passing through the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning message appears on the display.
In front of the scanner
Use these steps to clear original document jams from in front of the printer.
note:

Remove any remaining pages from the ADF.

Open the ADF cover.

Gently pull the paper out of the ADF.

Close the ADF cover. Place the removed pages, if any, back into the ADF.
Inside the scanner
Use these steps to clear original document jams from inside the scanner.

Remove any remaining pages from the ADF.

Open the ADF cover.

If present, gently pull the paper out of the ADF.

Close the ADF cover.

Open the scanner lid.

Gently pull the paper out of the ADF.

Close the scanner lid. Place the removed pages, if any, back into the ADF.
In the exit area of the scanner
Use these steps to clear original document jams from the exit area of the scanner.

Remove any remaining page(s) from the ADF.

Open the ADF cover.

Remove the page from the document output tray.

Close the ADF cover. Place the removed pages, if any, back into the ADF.
note:
To prevent document jams, use the document glass for
thick, thin, or mixed paper-type documents.
