HP Digital Imaging - Making Copies Using the HP Copy Utility

Introduction
This is an informational document on how to print copies using the HP Copy Utility software. The main Copy Utility screen is pictured below.

Setting up the Copy Utility preferences
To use the Copy Utility, first choose the proper settings for your copy.
Changing the Original Settings

Description of feature
Figure : Original
  • Text: Optimized for scanning in text.
  • Photo: Optimized for scanning in photo material.
  • Mixed: Optimized for mixed photos with text.
Figure : Quality
  • Best: Delivers the highest quality copies. Scans in at the highest resolution.
  • Normal: Delivers high quality copies for most business needs.
  • Fast: Delivers high-speed copies. Scans in at the lowest resolution.

  • Changing the Number of Copies adjusts the number of copies that the printer will print.
Figure : Lighten/Darken
  • Moving the slide control towards the dark circle will darken the final output of the copied image.
  • Moving the slide control towards the open circle will lighten the final output of the scanned image.

  • Changing the Reduce/Enlarge number will change the percentage of difference between the original scan and the final printed material.
  • Changing from Actual 100% to Full Page 91% will ensure that the scanned image is not too large for the printer the scan is being sent to. If the scan that is sent is at 100% the image will appear moved to the right by about ¼ inch.

  • Changing the Copy Output option gives the choice of using the different printers installed on the system.
  • Pressing the Printer Setup button opens the setup screen for the printer the scanned output is going to. You can change things like paper size, print quality, and other printer settings by pressing this button.

  • Restore Settings: This restores the Copy Utility back to all of the original settings.
  • Cancel: This stop the HP Copy Utility
  • Help: This brings up the Help Index for the scanner software.

  • Black Start Copy Button: This will start a Black and White copy with the settings selected from above.
  • Color Start Copy Button: This will start a color copy with the settings selected from above.
