HP ENVY 7800 Printers - 'Out of Paper' displays, printer does not pick up paper

The printer does not feed paper from the input tray, photo tray, or automatic document feeder (ADF).

Paper does not feed from the input or photo tray

The printer does not pick up paper when printing. A 'Load Paper in Tray' or 'Out of Paper' message might also display.

Perform the following tasks in the order given. Try using the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.

Check the paper, and then reload it

Check the paper stack for defects such as wrinkled, torn, or bent pieces that might cause a pick-up issue.

  1. Remove any paper from the paper tray.

  2. Remove any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn paper found in the stack.

  3. Check for obstructions inside the paper tray. Make sure nothing blocks the paper from engaging with the rollers.

  4. Make sure the paper stack is even on all sides.

  5. Load the stack of paper into the paper tray until the paper stops, and then slide in the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.
