Use these steps to change fax receiving modes.

Press the Fax
button on the control panel.

Press Menu and press the arrows until Fax Setup displays, then press OK.

Press the arrows until Receiving displays, then press OK.

Press the arrows until Receive Mode displays, then press OK.

Select one of the options from the following choices.

FAX: Answers an incoming fax call and immediately goes into the fax reception mode.

TEL: Receives a fax by pressing On Hook Dial
and then Start
.

ANS/FAX: The printer answers an incoming call, and the caller can leave a message on the answering machine. If the fax machine senses a fax tone on the line, the machine automatically switches to Fax Mode to receive the fax.
note:
To use the ANS/FAX mode an answering machine must be attached to the EXT input on the back of the printer. -
DRPD: You can receive a call using the Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection feature. Distinctive Ring is a telephone company service which enables a user to use a single telephone line to answer several different telephone numbers.
