The printer does not print with paper from Tray 2. Additionally, if Tray 1 is set as the default tray, when it runs out of paper the printer does not continue to print with paper from Tray 2.

Issue
Solution
Follow the steps in this document to open your printer software, and then enable printing from Tray 2.
Step one: Remove and reinstall the Tray 2 paper tray

Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
-
Grasp the underside of the paper tray in Tray 2, and then pull it out from the printer.Figure : Remove the Tray 2 paper tray

Reinstall the paper tray into the printer. Push the tray forward until it stops to close it.Figure : Reinstall the paper tray
Step two: Remove and reinstall Tray 2

Gently lift the printer off of Tray 2.Figure : Remove Tray 2

Gently lower the printer back onto Tray 2.
caution:
Keep your fingers and hands clear of the bottom of the printer.Figure : Reinstall Tray 2

Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
Step three: Enable Tray 2 in the printer software
Follow these steps to open your printer’s software and enable printing from Tray 2.
Windows XP

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (
), and then select Printers and Faxes.

Right-click your printer, and then select Printing Preferences.
-
Select Paper/Quality.
-
From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
-
From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.

Click Apply, and then click OK.
note:
Follow these same steps to switch the default print tray back to Tray 1.
Windows Vista

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (
), and then click Control Panel.

Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.
-
Right-click your printer, and then select Printing Preferences.

From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.

From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.

From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.

Click Apply, and then click OK.

Follow these same steps to switch the default print tray back to Tray 1.
Windows 7

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer, and then select Printing Preferences.

From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.

From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.

From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.

Click Apply, and then OK.

Windows 8

Right-click or touch and hold the bottom left side of the screen to open the menu. From the menu, click or tap Control Panel, and then click or tap View devices and printers.

Right-click or touch and hold the printer icon (
) for your printer, and then click or tap Printing preferences.

From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.

From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
-
From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.

Click or tap Apply, and then click or tap OK.
note:
Follow these same steps to switch the default print tray back to Tray 1.
Mac OS X
-
Click System Preferences (
), and then click Print & Fax in Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, or click Print & Scan in OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8.

Click your printer, and then click Options & Supplies.

Click the Driver tab.

Select the Tray 2 option in Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, or 10.7, or click the Optional Paper Input Tray option in OS X 10.8, and then click OK.

Follow these same steps to switch the default print tray back to Tray 1.
