HP Designjet T1100 and T1120 MFP Series Products - Install the printer and printer drivers

Install the printer and printer drivers

There are three ways to install a printer with the system. The recommended method depends on the printer model:
  • Local connection through Firewire interface. (Use with Designjet 4500 printer)
  • Local connection through USB interface. (Use with Designjet 800 and Designjet T1100 printers)
  • Network connection through the LAN. (Use with all other printers than those stated above)

Local connection through firewire interface

This option is for the Designjet 4500 printer model only. If you have the Designjet 4500 with your system, then it is highly recommended to use the firewire interface. Driver installation and detection by the software is automatic.
Use the USB interface method with Designjet 800 or Designjet T1100 printer models.
Other models will need to use the network connection method.
  1. Power OFF all device components - scanner, printer and panel PC.
  2. Connect the Firewire cable's printer end to the printer.
  3. Connect the Firewire cable's other end to the panel PC.
  4. Turn on the printer, scanner and panel PC.
  5. The printer driver is preinstalled in the software and the printer will be detected at power on.
  6. Control setup - Check that your printer profile corresponds with the printer you selected. Press Setup Tab, Printer, Tool button, Printer Setup. The "Printer Profile" option should be checked and the box text should show the attached HP Designjet 4500 printer name.Print dialog

Local connection through USB interface

This option is for the Designjet 800 and the Designjet T1100 printer models. If you are connecting one of these models with your system, then it is highly recommended to use the USB interface as driver installation and detection by the software is then automatic.
Use the Firewire interface method with a Designjet 4500 printer model. Other models will need to use the network connection method.
  1. Turn off all device components - scanner, printer and panel PC.
  2. Connect the USB cable's printer end to the printer.
  3. Connect the USB cable's other end to the panel PC.
The "Printer Profile" option should be checked and the box text should show the attached HP Designjet 820 mfp printer name.

Network connection through the LAN

This option is for models other than the Designjet 4500, Designjet 800 and the Designjet T1100 printers. If you are connecting the Designjet 4500 printer with your system, then use the local firewire connection method through the firewire interface that provides automatic driver installation and detection.
If you are connecting the Designjet 800 printer or the Designjet T1100 with your system, then use the local USB connection method through the USB interface that provides automatic driver installation and detection. Other models must use the network connection method described here:
  1. Make sure the printer you wish to use is configured and setup on the LAN to be recognized by other devices.
  2. Connect your panel PC to the LAN.
  3. Select the Setup tab
  4. Select Options, System.
  5. Select "Install Printer Driver", scroll the list for the driver that describes the printer model you wish to install and select it. Follow the installation instructions that appear on your screen.
  6. Control setup - Check that your printer profile corresponds with the printer you selected. Press Setup Tab, Printer, Tool button, Printer Setup. The "Printer Profile" option should be checked and the box text should show the correct printer name.
