HP+ printer setup (HP Smart app)
Use the HP Smart app to set up and use the exclusive features of an HP+ printer.

Set up the printer with HP Smart and activate HP+ features
Install the HP Smart app to connect your printer to the network and to your computer or mobile device, and then set up your HP+ account.
Before you begin
Prepare for a network set up with the printer. USB connection setups are not supported with HP+ printers.

Place the printer and the computer or mobile device near the network router. For a wired network setup, connect the network cable to the printer Ethernet port and to an available port on the router or access point. At the printer port, the green light should be steady and the orange activity light should blink.

Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

Enable Bluetooth on the computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location. This is used to find your printer, network connection, and offer regional services. Your location information is not tracked and sent to HP as part of the setup process.

What to do next
The setup is complete and you can start printing. If the setup was not completed, the printer does not print and an alert displays to finish the setup in the HP Smart app.
