TROY provides the support for the MICR printers that are covered under a bench warranty. Printers that have an onsite warranty or a service contract (including Support Packs) are supported by both Hewlett-Packard and TROY. Hewlett-Packard has an agreement with TROY to provide hardware support and dispatch technicians onsite for those printers. TROY provides support for TROY related issues and software.

TROY features for MICR printers

Learn about the TROY modifications designed for HP LaserJet and select HP Inkjet MICR printers when printing checks.

MICR characters are the characters at the bottom of a check, referred to as the MICR line. These characters are used to process checks by a special machine that scans the MICR line. This process is based on a technology called Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, or MICR. This technology uses magnetic reading to identify these unique numbers and characters. In non-MICR print mode, TROY MICR printers use all the HP LaserJet printer's features and functionality. When printing checks, the printers produce high-quality MICR characters and signal levels for both E-13B and CMC-7 standard MICR fonts. TROY offers MICR models for the majority of HP LaserJet printers, as well as select HP Inkjet printers.

The TROY modifications include:

  • MICR fonts which are tested on optimized to ensure character clarity and signal strength for magnetic scanning.

  • Optional 3-postion key switch to restrict access to MICR print functions.

  • Locking paper trays which helps prevent unauthorized printing and access to security paper stock.

  • Firmware with toner sensing, which detects MICR toner cartridges, along with additional protective features to help secure the check printing workflow.

  • MICR Toner Secure™ not only offers the magnetic reading capability, but also provides an additional layer of security, releasing a red dye if chemical alteration of the check is attempted.

Warning:

HP supports only TROY MICR toner for use in HP/TROY LaserJet printers. Use of other products may damage printer and void warranty.
