HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1200 - Reloading Toner

This document is for HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1200a, 1200n, 1200nw, 1200w, 1201n, 1202nw, and 1202w printers.

Reload the toner when the Toner Level indicator displays +1 or +2, the Toner Reload indicator

is white, and a Toner Low or Toner Empty message displays in the printer software or HP Smart app.

If +1 displays, add one Toner Reload Kit.
If +2 displays, add up to two Toner Reload Kits.
If +2 and the Toner Level warning icon display, the printer is out of toner. You must add at least one Toner Reload Kit before you can continue printing.

Steps to reload toner.

Shake the Toner Reload Kit for at least ten seconds to loosen the toner.
Lift the scanner to access the reload port.
Slide open the reload port cover.
Remove the cap and ring from the Toner Reload Kit.
Insert the Toner Reload Kit into the reload port, and then rotate it clockwise 180 degrees or until it stops.

note:
If the Toner Reload indicator is not white, a Toner Reload Kit cannot be added at this time. For more information, see What if I am unable to reload toner in Frequently asked questions (FAQs).
Push the plunger down until it clicks.

If the plunger does not go down all the way, pull it up, and then push it down again. For more information, see What if the plunger does not go down in Frequently asked questions (FAQs).
Rotate the Toner Reload Kit counterclockwise 180 degrees, lift it out of the port, and then recycle it.
After you reload toner, the Ready light blinks for 30 to 50 seconds. Wait until the Ready light is solid before sending a print job.
Close the reload port cover.
Lower the scanner.

What if I cannot remove the Toner Reload Kit after loading toner?

The Toner Reload Kit was not completely emptied into the printer. Pull the plunger up, and then make sure you push it down all the way. The plunger clicks when it is empty.

If you still cannot remove the Toner Reload Kit, press the Cancel button

, and then remove the Toner Reload Kit.

What if the plunger does not go down?

The toner in the Toner Reload Kit might be stuck, or the Toner Reload Kit might not have been inserted correctly.

Pull up on the plunger, and then push it down again.

Do not use excessive force to push the plunger.
If the plunger still does not go down, press the Cancel button .
Rotate the Toner Reload Kit counterclockwise, and then remove it.
Make sure the cap and ring were removed.
Check for debris in the reload port, and then remove it, if necessary.
Shake the Toner Reload Kit for at least ten seconds.
Reinsert the Toner Reload Kit, and then try again.

note:
Make sure you rotate the Toner Reload Kit 180 degrees before you push down the plunger.

What if I am unable to reload toner?

You might not be able to reload toner for a variety of reasons.

caution:
To avoid damaging the printer and spilling toner, do not force the Toner Reload Kit.

The previous Toner Reload Kit was not completely emptied into the printer: If you did not completely empty the previous Toner Reload Kit, the printer cannot accept a new one. Reinsert the previous Toner Reload Kit, and then make sure to push the plunger down until it clicks.

If you do not have the previous Toner Reload Kit anymore, you need to empty the toner in the imaging drum before reloading it. Use the printer until +2 and the Toner Level warning icon display on the Toner Level indicator, and then reload toner.
The cap and ring were not removed: Remove the cap and ring from the new Toner Reload Kit, and then try again.
The printer does not need more toner: You cannot reload toner if the imaging drum is full. Do not try to reload toner until the Toner Level indicator displays +1 or +2.
The imaging drum needs to be replaced: You cannot reload toner when the imaging drum needs to be replaced. Use the imaging drum until it is empty or until print quality is unacceptable, and then replace the imaging drum. For more information, go to Replacing the Imaging Drum.
There is debris in the reload port: Make sure the reload port is clean and empty.
There is a problem with the printer: If none of the above solutions worked, you might need to service your printer. Contact HP Support.
