DESCRIPTION
The computer intermittently displays the following error during startup:
The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly
Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior that could result in random shutdown, data loss or possible system damage. The system will shut down in 15 seconds. To prevent shutdown and continue operation, press the enter key now.
System Fan (90B)
The error indicates that there is a problem with removing heat from the computer. In addition to this error, the system fan may spin faster and become louder.

RESOLUTION
Resolve the issue as follows:
  1. Update to the latest BIOS version available, currently:
    For ProBook 645 G1
    SP72122 file download, Version 01.32, Revision: A
    For ZBook 15 G2
    SP73534 file download, Version: 01.13, Revision: A
    For ZBook 15u G2
    SP72796 file download, Version: 01.09, Revision: A
    For ZBook 15 G3

    For ZBook 17 G2

  2. If you notice that the system fan spins and is blowing warm air from the computer, clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Do this while the computer is off. Dust can accumulate inside the vent opening and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat. After dust has been removed, try turning on the computer to see if the error goes away. if not, continue to the next step.
  3. Perform a hard reset:
    - G3 systems; press and hold the power button and holding it for at least 10 seconds.

    - G1 and G2 systems: remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please document what you have done and contact HP for further assistance.
