Use the following steps to connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory and configure it for use in an HP wireless direct network.
note:
The HP wireless direct feature only provides a direct wireless network connection to the HP printer/MFP. It does not provide Internet access or a connection to any other network.
Current technology limits the number of HP wireless direct connections to five.
-
View the status lights on the HP 1200w Accessory to verify that it is operating correctly.
A green device status LED (furthest from the USB connector) indicates that the device is ready. A blue device status LED indicates that the HP 1200w Accessory is connected to a wireless network or that another HP wireless direct connection is active. The printer communication status LED (closest to the USB connector) is green if a supported HP printer/MFP is currently attached, or blank if no printer/MFP is attached.
note:
When using an iOS device to connect, such as an iPhone® or iPad®, that uses iOS 5 or greater, the connection status icon might continue to spin even when connected. This is normal and indicates that the HP wireless direct connection does not provide Internet access. Since HP wireless direct is only a connection between the mobile device and the HP 1200w Accessory, the mobile device cannot access the Internet.
When using some iOS devices with 3G/4G connectivity, the cellular data will become active after the HP 1200w Accessory EWS setup wizard completes. If the iOS device is connected directly to the HP 1200w Accessory using HP wireless direct, the device can also access the Internet.
-
Using a wireless computer or a wireless mobile device, connect to the HP 1200w Accessory network name or SSID. The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address.
note:
The first time a connection is established, the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory EWS automatically launches the setup wizard. Provide the language to use, select the setup method (guided or manual), and complete the initial configuration. For additional information, see the section about using the wizard.
