HP ElitePad 900 G1 Tablet - Windows 8 Restore Procedure Fails

Environment

HP ElitePad 900 G1 Tablet
HP USB QRCD Pen

Questions/Symptoms

Attempting the HP QRCD USB Pen restore procedure on a System Board that arrived from stock with no image, fails with the following error message:
“Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.”

Cause

An old version of the HP USB QRCD Pen is being used.

Answer/Solution

System Boards arriving from the HP spares stock with no image installed (earlier, these boards arrived from stock with a limited factory image).

Whatever the case, limited factory image or no image at all, whenever a System Board is replaced the unit must always be restored. This is done by using a recovery media previously created by the end user or by using the HP QRCD USB Pen (ordered through HP Support).

To fix this issue, use the latest HP USB QRCD Pen.
