HP Designjet 4500 Printer Series - Firmware Upgrade

Introduction

Depending on the printer and the operating system, firmware updates are available from HP. These updates increase the printer functionality and enhance features the printer already has.

Update the printer firmware

Select a method, and then follow the steps to update the printer firmware.

Method one: Get printer updates using the Embedded Web Server

Follow these steps to check for the latest product updates for your printer.
note:
If you are unable to use the EWS because you do not have an Internet connection to your printer (for instance, when using USB or AppleTalk), follow the steps to get the printer updates from the HP website.
  1. Open the EWS, and select the Settings tab.
  2. Open the Firmware Update page, and then follow the instructions on the page.

Method two: Get printer updates from the HP website

Follow these steps to check for the latest firmware updates for your printer using the HP website.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and connected to the computer, either through your local network or a USB cable.
  2. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.
    The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.
  3. If you need to change the version of Windows, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.
  4. Click Firmware, and then click Download.
    If a Firmware section is not listed, an update is not currently available for your printer.
  5. Save the file to your computer.
  6. Locate and then open the file to start the installation process.
