HP Designjet 2500/3500CP Printers - Custom Paper Support in Windows NT 4.0 Using the PostScript (R) Driver

Issue:
How do I get custom page size support in Windows NT 4.0 using the PostScript (R) driver?
Solution
The PostScript driver provided with the HP DesignJet 2500CP/3500CP for Windows NT 4.0 is a Microsoft (R) Windows driver that does not offer support for custom paper sizes.
Adobe (R) released another version of the PostScript driver for Windows NT 4.0 recently, and it does support the custom paper feature and can be used with the HP DesignJet CP series printers that support the PostScript feature.
Download the AdobePS 5.0 driver from the Adobe Web site and install it with the HP DesignJet 2500CP/3500CP PPD. See the following Details section for steps to download the driver from the Adobe Web site.
DETAILS: To download the Adobe driver:
  1. Click the "Free Plug-Ins and Updates" link at www.adobe.com and find the “printer drivers” section. Select the AdobePS 5.0 driver in your preferred language. The name of the file is "aps5eng.exe" if you download the US English version.
  2. Double-click the exe file in the directory you downloaded it to. The driver's installation will be launched automatically.
  3. At some point during the installation, you will be asked to select a PPD.
    • If you have already installed the HP DesignJet 2500CP/3500CP driver provided with the printer, you will find its PPD under: c:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86.
    • You can also find the PPD in the "Connectivity software" CD-ROM provided with your printer, under Winnt\English\winnt40.
  4. After selecting the PPD and when the installation is complete, the new driver for the HP DesignJet 2500CP/3500CP printer will appear in the printer’s folder.
  5. Highlight the Adobe PostScript Printer Icon. Click on File, Document Defaults.
  6. Click on the Advance Tab. Under the Paper/Output Section, click paper size.
  7. In the lower half of the window, various paper sizes will be listed. Scroll to “Postscript Custom Paper Size” and click it.
  8. Enter the desired paper size and click OK. Click OK again.
