HP OfficeJet 8010, Pro 8020, 8030 printers - Out of Paper error, printer does not pick up paper

During a print, copy, fax, or scan job, the printer does not feed paper from the input tray or document feeder.

Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.

Check the paper, and then reload it

Check the paper stack for any wrinkled, torn, or bent pages that might cause a pickup issue.

  1. Remove all paper from the input tray or document feeder.

  2. Remove any wrinkled, torn, or bent paper in the stack.

  3. Check for and remove any obstructions in the input tray or document feeder. Make sure nothing blocks the paper from engaging with the rollers.

  4. Load the stack of paper into the input tray or document feeder, making sure the stack aligns with the paper stack guide on the input tray.

  5. Slide in any paper guides until they rest on the edge of the stack.

Clean the paper pick rollers

Clean dirt or debris from the paper pick rollers to resolve paper feed issues.

Service the printer

Service or replace your HP product if the issue persists after completing all the preceding steps.
