Learn how to find the model name, product number, and serial number for the HP printer.

  • The model name is the official name for the printer. Use this name when searching on www.hp.com for information about your printer. The same series of printers might have several different model names to distinguish models with varying features. For example, if a printer series offers models with and without network connections, those models have different names.

  • The product number is a six-character code that identifies a particular product type and is used for ordering parts for your printer.

  • The serial number is a unique number for each individual printer.

Locate the model name

The model name is located on the front of the printer in a prominent location.

Examples of model names:

  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M575f

  • HP LaserJet Pro M401dw

The exact location of the model name varies by printer.

Locate the product number and serial number

Each printer has a label that lists the unique serial number for the printer and the six-character product number.

Examples of product numbers:

  • CC522A

  • A3E42A

The location of the label varies by printer model.
