Samsung Laser Printers - How to Update Firmware

The firmware patch needs to be downloaded first before updating the firmware for your printer model.
  note:
Make sure the correct firmware is downloaded for your printer model.
Use these steps to upgrade your firmware properly.
  1. Make sure the printer is connected to the PC with a USB cable or by network connection.
  2. Download the firmware zip file or go to Software and Driver Downloads and enter your model printer into the search text box to download the latest driver.
  3. Extract the zip files.

  4. If the printer firmware version is V3.xx.01.xx or lower, download the file SCX3405FW_Upgrade_Patch.exe file first. If the firmware version is V3.xx.02.xx or higher, then skip to step 11 for steps for downloading the main firmware.
      note:
    If connected via USB, disconnect all other USB devices before update.

  5. Make sure the printer is powered on.
  6. Select the connection type as a USB connected printer or a network connect printer.

  7. Click Agree on the firmware update agreement.

  8. Select your printer by selecting the connection type, and then clicking Update Firmware.

  9. Once a warning window opens, do not power off the printer while the firmware update patch is in progress.
    Click OK to close the warning window.

      caution:
    Do not power off the printer until the status LED is not flashing. Turning the power off could damage the printer.
  10. The printer LED will be solid green after about two minutes once the patch is finished.
  11. After the printer has powered off and back on, the display reads F/W Upgrade Mode Upgrade Final FW with a solid green status light. Exit out of the firmware patch updater, and then open SCX3405FW_V3.xx.02.02.exe file.

  12. Make sure the printer is powered on.
  13. Select the connection type as a USB connection printer or a network connected printer.

  14. Once a connection type is selected, a warning window displays. Click OK, to continue.
      note:
    Do not power off the printer while the firmware patch is in progress.

  15. Select the printer by selecting the box next to the Connection type, and then click Update Firmware.

  16. Once selected, a warning window displays. Click OK to continue.
      note:
    Do not power off the printer until the display shows ready or the status LED is not flashing. This could cause damage to the printer.

  17. Once the printer is back on and in ready status, exit the firmware updater to complete the upgrade.
      note:
    If an error occurs after the firmware is updated, make sure the correct firmware is downloaded, and then retry the update.
