HP OfficeJet 7510 Printers - Setting Up the Printer Hardware

This document is for the HP OfficeJet 7510 Wide Format All-in-One printers.
To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer from the box and all package materials, connect the power cable, set control panel preferences, load paper into the input tray, and then install the ink cartridges.
Step 1: Remove the printer from the box
Remove the printer from the box and all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer.
The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.
  1. Remove the printer from the box.
  2. Remove tape and package materials from inside and outside of the printer.

  3. Remove the protective film from the printer control panel.
      note:
    Make sure you remove all hardware and materials from the box before you discard or recycle the box and package materials.
  4. To install the input tray, line up the input tray extender with the input tray.
  5. Push the input tray extender onto the input tray until it locks into place.

  6. Place the output tray on top of the input tray extender, and then push the tray forward until it snaps into place.
  7. Install the output tray.

  8. Raise the scanner lid to remove package materials beneath.

  9. Remove all tape and package materials from the scanner glass.
  10. Close the scanner lid.

Step 2: Connect the power cord and set your preferences
Plug the printer into a power source, turn on the printer, and then set your preferences.
  note:
Do not connect a USB cable at this time. The connection to the computer is set during the driver and software installation.
  1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

  2. Turn on the printer.

  3. To set your preferences on the printer control panel, touch your preferred language, and then touch Continue to confirm your choice.

Step 3: Load paper into the input tray
Load plain, U.S. letter or A4 paper into the input tray.
  1. Lift the output tray.

  2. Slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.

  3. Pull out the input tray, and then extend it to the desired paper size.

  4. Load the stack of paper in portrait orientation with the print-side facing down in the center of the input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.

      caution:
    Do not load paper while the printer is printing. Jams or paper feed issues might occur.
  5. Slide the paper-width guides so that they rest against the stack of paper, and then lower the output tray.
    Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the paper.

  6. Pull out the output tray extension, and then lift the paper catch.

Step 4: Install the ink cartridges
Install the HP ink cartridges that shipped in the box with your printer.
  caution:
When you first set up the printer, you must install the ink cartridges that shipped in the box. These ink cartridges are labeled SETUP, and they calibrate your printer before the first print job. Failure to install the SETUP ink cartridges during the initial printer setup causes an error.
  1. Open the ink cartridge access door by pulling the edge of the ink cartridge access door forward.
  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.

  3. Locate the SETUP ink cartridges and remove the tape or other package materials.

  4. Hold the ink cartridge so that the ink cartridge contacts are facing toward the printer.
  5. Slide the new ink cartridge into its slot, and then gently push it forward until it locks into place.
      note:
    Make sure that the letter on the ink cartridge matches the letter and colored dot on the ink cartridge slot.

  6. Repeat these steps to install each ink cartridge.
  7. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Your HP printer has been setup and is ready to be connected.
