HP Compaq Notebook PCs - Blue Screen Error 0x7f on Certain Intel/AMD Graphics Platforms

Issue
Systems equipped with Intel HD graphics cards and AMD (ATI) HD graphics cards can suffer from blue screen errors (0x7f and others). This issue is only seen after updates installed from Microsoft and released during the 2nd week of February 2011.
Solution
Uninstalling the update from Microsoft, while not a complete solution, should allow the system to operate normally. To uninstall the updates, either delete them manually or perform a backdate restore to a date prior to the updates. Be sure to turn off automatic updates, so that the patches do not get installed automatically.
Microsoft is working on complete resolution. Microsoft acknowledged this as a known issue with the patch which conflicts with video drivers.
