Solution two: Check the paper type, and then try to align the printer again

  • If the alignment page is missing colors or is faded or streaked, then continue to the next solution.
Solution three: Check the ink levels, and then replace any low or empty cartridges
Low ink can contribute to poor print quality. Follow these steps to check the ink levels, and then replace any low or empty cartridges.
Step one: Print a diagnostic page to check the ink levels
  note:
If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured print cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another printer, the ink level indicator will be inaccurate or unavailable.
  1. Make sure that you have letter or A4 unused plain, white paper loaded into the input tray.
  2. On the control panel, press and hold * and #, and then press 1, 2, and 7.
  3. Press the right arrow button () until Reports displays on the control panel, and then press OK.
  4. Press the left arrow button () until vpp self test displays on the control panel, and then press OK. The test page prints.
  5. Look in the middle of the test page. The bars with 'E' (empty) and 'F' (full) at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color.
