HP Designjet 300/400 Series Printers - Media Is Rejected When Loading

Issue:
When loading media (sheet or roll) it is rejected.
When sheet media is loaded it feeds in, but then is ejected.
When roll media is loaded, the HP DesignJet printer or printer feeds in a large amount of media then stops.
Solution
From the front panel, make sure that the correct media source (roll or sheet) is specified.
  • Make sure that the Roll light is on for roll media.
  • Make sure that the Sheet light is on for sheet media (for the HP DesignJet 400 series printer).
  • Make sure that the Roll light is off for sheet media (for the HP DesignJet 300 series printer).
Cause
If the Roll light is on and sheet media is loaded, it will feed it in and then reject it since it ran out of media. It was expecting a roll.
For the HP DesignJet 400 series printer, if the Sheet light is on and roll media is loaded, it will feed in a large amount of media looking for the end of a sheet, then reject it since it did not find the end.
For the HP DesignJet 300 series printer, if the Roll light is off and roll media is loaded, it will feed in a large amount of media looking for the end of a sheet, then reject it since it did not find the end.
