The HP Utility is a printer management software that is used to check printer status or to view or change printer settings from a Mac computer.
The HP Utility is installed on your Mac computer when you install HP Easy Start from support.hp.com/drivers. Use HP Utility when the printer is connected with a USB cable or connected to a network.
To install HP Easy Start, go to support.hp.com/drivers, click Printer, enter your printer name in the search field, and then click your printer name when it displays in the autocomplete results. The "Software and drivers" page displays.
On the "Software and drivers" page, click Installation Software, and then click Download next to HP Easy Start. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the software.
Follow these steps to open the HP Utility.
On a Mac computer, click the Finder icon , and then click the Applications folder.
Select the HP folder, and then double-click HP Utility.

The HP Utility toolbar allows you to access information about your printer, settings, HP Support, supplies, registration, recycling, and product improvement.

Following are the menu options available in the HP Utility toolbar:
Devices: Displays a list of available printers and printer status.
All Settings: Provides information about a selected printer.
To view more information about the printer settings, see the Printer information and settings section below.
HP Support: Provides access to the HP Support website for online troubleshooting and support information.
To access your printer's HP Support website, click Continue.
Supplies: Provides access to the HP SureSupply website where you can shop for HP printer supplies online.
Registration: Provides access to the HP registration website to register your printer and submit the information online.
To access the HP registration website, click Continue .
Recycling: Provides access to the HP Planet Partners Product Return & Recycling website where you can view convenient ways to recycle your HP products.
To access the HP Planet Partners Product Return & Recycling website, click Continue.
To participate in an anonymous research program without providing any personal information, click Product Improvement. If this button is not available on the toolbar, click the right arrow button >> to view the HP Product Improvement Study research program.

To view information and modify settings for a printer using the HP Utility toolbar, click Devices, select a printer, and then click All Settings.

A user name and password might be required to access and change these settings. |
Proxy Server Settings |
Configure a proxy server for the printer. |
Job Storage Settings |
Manage the print jobs that are stored on the printer hard disk. |
Supplies Management |
Configure how the printer should behave when supplies are nearing the end of their estimated life. |
Trays Configuration |
Modify the paper size and type for each tray installed on the printer. |
Additional Settings |
Opens the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer.

Basic Fax Settings (MFP fax models only) |
Configure the settings for the printer to send and receive faxes. |
Junk Fax Blocking (MFP fax models only) |
Block incoming faxes to the printer from a list of selected caller ID numbers. |

Configure the printer to send incoming faxes to a different fax number. |

Block or unblock fax numbers. |
