How to properly replace a broken input tray.

Replace the broken or defective input tray

To replace the input tray, disconnect the power cable, remove the defective input tray, and install a new one.
  1. Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord from the printer.
      caution:
    The printer must be disconnected from power to avoid damaging the printer power module.
  2. Set the printer on its back.
    note:
    Prevent the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or scanner lid from opening abruptly when you tilt the printer vertically.

  3. Slide the input tray up.

  4. When the tray stops, press outward on the tray retainer to provide enough clearance for release, and remove the tray from the printer.

  5. Unpack the new input tray, part number: 4LW49-60004 or 4LW49-60040.

  6. Align the new input tray to both sides and push the input tray down to insert it. Release the stop-catch slightly, if needed.

  7. Slide the input tray fully down to complete tray installation.

  8. Set the printer onto a hard, even surface that is clear of all obstructions.

  9. Open and close the new input tray to ensure it works properly.
  10. Reconnect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.
