HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Burning Discs in CyberLink Power2Go Express 6 and Power2Go Sidebar Gadget

This document applies to HP and Compaq Desktop Computers with CyberLink Power2Go Express 6.
Use CyberLink Power2Go Express 6 and the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget to make burning discs a quick and easy task. The Power2Go Express icons sit on your desktop, while the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget is located on the Windows Vista Sidebar.
To burn a disc, drag files to the Power2Go Express icons on the desktop or the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget in Windows Vista.
Power2Go Sidebar Gadget for Windows Vista
In Windows Vista, add the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget to the Windows Vista Sidebar using the following steps:
  1. Right-click the Windows Vista Sidebar, and click Add Gadgets.
  2. In the Sidebar Gadgets window, click the Power2Go Gadget icon.
  3. Drag the icon to the Windows Vista Sidebar.
The Power2Go Sidebar Gadget uses the following icons:

Data Disc gadget
Data disc gadget
Drag data files to this icon to burn a data disc.
Audio CD gadget
Audio CD gadget
Drag music files to this icon to burn an audio CD music disc.
All music discs burned with Power2Go Sidebar Gadget are burned in the audio CD format.
Dragging video files to the Audio Disc icon extracts and burns the audio from the video files.
Video Disc gadget
Video disc gadget
Drag video files to this icon to burn a movie disc.
You can drag image files to the Video Disc icon to burn a slideshow, video files to burn a video disc, or both image and video files to burn a disc with both a video and a slideshow.
Slideshows created in Power2Go Sidebar Gadget have a default slide duration of 3 seconds.

Click Burn on the Disc Copy Sidebar Gadget icon to copy a disc.
To burn a disc with the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget, do this:
  1. Set the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget to the correct function by clicking the arrows at the top of the icon . For example, if you want to burn an audio CD, switch to the Audio CD function.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and find the files you want to burn to disc.
      note:
    To open Windows Explorer, click Start , click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
  3. Drag all the files you want on your disc to the Power2Go gadget on the Windows Vista Sidebar.
  4. To view a list of the content to be burned, click the icon in the lower left of the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget.
  5. When ready, insert a writeable disc into the disc burning drive, and click Burn on the Power2Go Sidebar Gadget icon. CyberLink Power2Go burns your disc and displays the burning status on the gadget.

Follow these steps to use CyberLink Power2Go Express.
Opening Power2Go Express
Complete the following steps to open Power2Go Express:
  1. To open Power2Go Express, click Start , click All Programs, and then click CyberLink DVD Suite.
  2. Click the CyberLink Products icon , and then click the Power2Go Express icon .
    The CyberLink Power2Go Express icons display on the desktop.

    The following table describes the function of each of the Power2Go Express icons:

    Double-click the Disc Copy icon to open the Disc Copy window.
Burning a data disc, audio CD, or video/photo disc
Use the following steps to burn a data disc, audio CD, or video and photo disc
  1. Open Windows Explorer and find the files you want to burn to disc.
      note:
    To open Windows Explorer, click Start , click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. Drag all the files you want on your disc to the appropriate icon on your desktop. For example, drag music files to the audio disc icon, and video files to the video disc icon.
      note:
    The Record button is highlighted when there are files waiting to be burned.
  3. Right-click an icon to open a command menu to control burning tasks. Click a menu item to perform the task.

  4. When ready, insert a writeable disc into the disc burning drive, and click Record on the Power2Go icon. CyberLink Power2Go burns your disc and displays the burning status on the icon.

Copying a disc
Make an exact copy of a disc using a blank disc of the same format. You must copy the disc contents onto a blank disc of the same disc type. You cannot, for example, copy content from a CD onto a DVD.
  note:
Some discs cannot be copied if they are copy-protected or contain errors.
  1. Open Power2Go Express.
  2. Double-click the Copy Disc icon on the desktop.
    Click the Record button on the Copy disc icon.

  3. In the From box, select the source drive.
    In the To box, select the destination drive.
      note:
    If the computer has only one CD or DVD drive, the source and target are the same drive.
  4. Set a Read speed.
  5. If you want to copy the disc, even if there are errors on it, click Ignore reading errors.
  6. Set a Write speed.
  7. Set the Number of Copies that you want to burn.
  8. To perform a write simulation before burning the disc, select Perform write simulation. Enable this option to verify that the burner can write to the disc at the selected speed without error.
      note:
    If a disc was previously recorded using the same selected configuration, a write simulation is not needed. Skip this step.
  9. Click Copy. Power2Go Express burns the copied data onto the blank disc. When burning is complete, click OK
      note:
    If you have only one drive, Power2Go Express copies the data from the source disc, ejects the source disc, and then prompts you to insert a blank, recordable disc.
