TouchSmart software performance

The HP TouchSmart software performs better when there are less software programs open and running in the Windows Vista. Many software programs open when Windows opens - even if you do not use the software. You can prevent these software programs from opening by removing them from the startup folder or by using a software tool called MSConfig. For more information, see Increasing System Performance Without Adding Memory in Windows Vista.
There are also two performance settings in HP TouchSmart: the Auto-Start and Quick-Launch features. To access these settings, complete the following steps:
  1. Open HP TouchSmart.
  2. Tap the Personalize button.
  3. Then tap the TouchSmart Settings button.

When Auto-Start is enabled, the HP TouchSmart software opens faster - but other software applications will not have as many resources when the TouchSmart software is not being used.
