      • If the printer is not found, or not listed, follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

    3. When prompted for the pairing code, enter the pairing code you retrieved in the previous step (Step 5), and then click Continue.

A message displays when the pairing code has been accepted.

    4. When prompted, give your printer a name and location and then click Continue, or if you do not want to add these details, click Skip.

    5. Click Confirm to agree to the HP+ smart printer requirements.

If the software is unable to find your printer during setup, check the following conditions to resolve the issue.

Note:

The information in the table below applies only when using the Connect with Software option.

Tips for resolving Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Potential issue

Solution

Printer Wi-Fi setup mode timed out

If the Wi-Fi light on the control panel is not blinking blue, the printer might not be in Wi-Fi setup mode.

Use one of the following solutions to restart Wi-Fi mode:

  • Turn the printer off and then back on.

  • Restore network settings:

    1. On the control panel, press and hold the Information button and Cancel/Resume button for at least five seconds.

      The Wi-Fi LED starts blinking.

    2. Wait for one minute. Open the printer software and try connecting again.

Computer too far from printer

Move your computer closer to the printer. Your computer might be out of range of the printer's Wi-Fi signal.

Computer connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or remote work network

Disconnect from a VPN before installing HP printer software.

Connect to the VPN again after finishing printer setup.

Note:

Consider your location and the security of the Wi-Fi network before disconnecting from a VPN.

Wi-Fi turned off on computer (computer connected by Ethernet)

If your computer is connected by Ethernet, turn on the computer's Wi-Fi while setting up the printer.

Do not use USB for setup

Printers with a label covering the USB port must be set up with a network connection. This ensures that you receive all available offers for your HP+ printer.

After setup, you can print using a USB cable if needed, but the printer must also remain connected to the internet.

Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)

For information on how to access the printer settings in the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the factory-set credentials for HP LaserJet Pro printers, refer to HP LaserJet Pro - Use a PIN to access the HP Embedded Web Server printer settings.
