  • If the Accessibility icon does not display on the printer control panel, see the steps in "Enable the Accessibility app" to enable the app and use the icon.

  • If the Accessibility icon already displays on the printer control panel, see "Use the Accessibility app" to adjust the setting options in the Accessibility menu.

Enable the Accessibility app

Follow these steps to set up the Accessibility app on the Home screen of the printer control panel.

Step one: Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Use the following steps to access the EWS.

Note:

To set up this feature in the EWS, make sure to allow/enable JavaScript in your Web browser.

  1. Find the IP address: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select the Information icon, and then select the Network icon to display the IP Address or host name.

  2. Open a Web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or host name of the printer exactly as it displays on the control panel. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.

    Note:

If the Web browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.

Step two: Update the printer firmware to FutureSmart bundle version 4.5 or newer version

Firmware updates increase the printer's functionality and enhance its features. Follow these steps to update the firmware using the EWS:

Note:

When an administrator password is set on the EWS, only the Information tab is available for users.

  1. Log in to the EWS using an administrator account.

  2. On the top navigation tab, click General.

  3. In the left navigation pane, select Firmware Upgrade.

  4. In the Current Firmware Information section, check the firmware version listed in HP FutureSmart Level.

    Note:

Make sure that the printer has an HP FutureSmart firmware version 4.5 or a newer version.

HP Enterprise printers have a compressed .zip file for all operating systems that contains a .bdl firmware file. Use either a USB flash drive or the EWS to install the .bdl file (firmware file).

For instructions to update the firmware, go to the following support document Update Firmware Using a USB flash drive or the Embedded Web Server.

Step three: Set up the Accessibility icon

Complete the following steps in the EWS to add the Accessibility icon to the control panel:

  1. On the top navigation tab, click General.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Control Panel Customization, and then select Home Screen Customization.
