HP printer setup (Wi-Fi Direct)
Wi-Fi Direct is a connection option with most HP wireless printers released in 2014 and later. Use Wi-Fi Direct when a local wireless network is unavailable.
Print with Wi-Fi Direct (Windows)
Send a print job using a direct wireless connection between your printer and a Windows computer.

Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.

In Windows, search for and open Printers and scanners.
-
Click Add a printer or scanner.

Click Show Wi-Fi Direct printers.

Select the option starting with DIRECT followed by your printer model.

Click Add device.

After the WPS PIN prompt displays on the computer, look for a PIN on the printer control panel or the information sheet that printed during setup.

Enter the PIN within 90 seconds, and then click Next to complete the connection.
Note:If the PIN expires, restart your computer, and then go through the printer setup process again.

If a Driver is unavailable status message displays, go to 123.hp.com to download and install the print driver.

Open the item you want to print, click File, and then click Print.

Select your printer from the list, and then click Print.
Print with Wi-Fi Direct (Android)
Send a print job using a direct wireless connection between your printer and an Android phone or tablet using the HP Print Service Plugin. Complete these steps while next to the printer.

What if the Wi-Fi Direct connection or print job failed?
Check setup requirements and for error states if the print job or Wi-Fi Direct connection fails.

Check the Wi-Fi Direct status. The feature must be on before you can send a print job.
