HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 Printers - Loading Paper, Envelopes, Cards

This document is for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8210, 8216, and 8218 printers.

This document provides instructions for loading plain paper, photo paper, cards, and envelopes into the printer.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the input tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.

Load plain paper

Load plain paper, such as A4, U.S. letter, or U.S. legal, into the input tray for basic printing.

Pull out the input tray.

Slide out the paper guides as far as possible.

If you are loading legal-size paper, pull out the input tray extender.

Load paper in portrait orientation with the print side facing down.

Slide the paper guides until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.

Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the paper.

Make sure the stack of paper does not exceed the paper fill guide.

Insert the input tray into the printer.
Pull out the output tray extender.

Load the printer with envelopes to print addresses for the recipient and sender.

Pull out the input tray.

Remove any plain paper from the input tray.
Slide out the paper guides as far as possible.

Load the envelopes with the print-side facing down and the flap-side facing up.
- If the envelope flap is on the long edge of the envelope, insert the envelope with the flap-side positioned to the left of the input tray.
- If the envelope flap is on the short edge, insert the envelope with the flap-side positioned up, towards the front of the input tray.

Slide the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of envelopes.

Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the envelopes.

Make sure the stack of envelopes does not exceed the paper fill guide.

Slide the paper-length guide until it touches the edge of the stack of envelopes.

Insert the input tray into the printer.
Pull out the output tray extender.

Load photo paper into the printer to print high-quality cards and photographs.

Pull out the input tray.

Remove any plain paper from the input tray.
Slide out the paper guides as far as possible.

Load the photo paper or cards into the input tray in portrait orientation and print side down.

If the photo paper you use has perforated tabs, load the paper so that the tabs are positioned up towards the front of the input tray.

Slide the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the paper.

Do not push the guides in so tightly that they bind against the photo paper or cards.

Make sure the stack of photo paper or cards does not exceed the paper fill guide.

Slide the paper-length guide until it touches the edge of the stack of photo paper or cards.

Insert the input tray into the printer.
Pull out the output tray extender.

Once you are done printing, remove any unused photo paper from the input tray. Store the photo paper in a sealed bag in cool, dark place so it does not deteriorate and reduce print quality.
