HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 Tablet - Screen Rotation Does Not Work in Windows Audit Mode

This document pertains to HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 tablets using Windows 7, this issue might also affect tablets using Windows 8.
Auto Display Rotation does not work in tablet mode. The tablet does not auto-rotate from landscape to portrait in tablet mode.
This issue occurs in Windows Audit Mode.
Custom Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit operating that is installed on the HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 tablet causes this issue. The issue is not seen on HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 tablets using the HP Windows 8 Pro 64-bit image.
Follow these solutions in the order presented. If one solution resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

Solution one: Download and install the following updates

To enable auto-rotate, download and install the following Microsoft .NET 3.5 and the security updates.

Step one: Download and install HP Hotkey S/W

Follow these steps to download and install HP Hotkey S/W (Requires .NET 3.5 to be installed) prior to installation.
  1. Download and install the HP Hotkey Support (SP60811), and then save it to a convenient location on your hard drive. Make a note of the location where the downloaded file is saved.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. After the installation is complete, restart the tablet.

Step two: Download and install the Intel Chipset Driver

Follow these steps to download and install the Intel Chipset Driver.
  1. Download and install the Intel Chipset Driver (SP60980), and then save it to a convenient location on your hard drive. Make a note of the location where the downloaded file is saved.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. After the installation is complete, restart the tablet.

Step three: Download and install the Intel Video Driver and Control Panel

Follow these steps to download and install the Intel Graphic Driver.
  1. Download and install the Intel Video Driver and Control Panel (SP60885), and then save it to a convenient location on your hard drive. Make a note of the location where the downloaded file is saved.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. After the installation is complete, restart the tablet. Auto-rotate is enabled after the reboot.
  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Solution two: Enable automatic rotation through Windows Control

Follow these steps to enable automatic rotation through the Windows Control Panel (Automatic rotation might be enabled by default).
  1. Open Control Pane.
    • Windows 8
      Swipe in from the right edge to open the Charms menu, and then tap Settings, and then select Control Panel.
    • Windows 7
      Click Start , and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, select the View by drop-down menu, and then select either Large Icons or Small Icons.

  3. Click Tablet Screen Rotation (32-bit).
  4. If not already selected, select Automatically rotate screen using accelerometer and Use HP default screen rotation settings.

    note:
    Screen rotation only functions automatically while the Elitebook is in tablet mode; the display faces outwards and is closed to the base, which prevents access to the physical keyboard.
  5. Click OK.
