HP Z620 Workstation - Removing and Replacing Second CPU PCA

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the second CPU PCA for the HP Z620 Workstation.
Tools required
Torx-15 screwdriver
Summary of instructions
To view a video demonstrating the procedure for removing the second CPU PCA, click here to view the HP Services Media Library and then click on Remove/Replace videos. On the new window, select Second CPU PCA from the menu on the upper left hand side of the screen.
Second CPU PCA removal
  note:
This video was developed using a pre-production version of the workstation. The chassis and parts shown might not exactly match the current production version, but the part removal and replacement steps are the same.
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to the product or loss of data.
  2. Rotate the airflow guide down over the PCA board and turn the Second CPU module over.
  3. Remove the Torx-15 screw that secures the PCA board connector bracket on the bottom of the Second CPU tray and remove the bracket.
  4. Remove the two Torx-15 screws that secure the PCA board on the bottom of the tray.
  5. With the module turned upright and airflow guide open, remove the five Torx-15 screws that secure the PCA board on the top of the tray.
  6. Pull the PCA board back slightly and lift it off of the assembly.
Second CPU PCA replacement
  1. Align the PCA board with the posts on the Second CPU tray.
  2. Replace the five Torx-15 screws that secure the PCA board to the tray.
  3. With the airflow guide closed and the module turned over, replace the two Torx-15 screws that secure the PCA board on the bottom of the tray.
  4. Slide the PCA board connector bracket under the guide tabs and align the screw holes.
  5. Replace the Torx-15 screw that secures the PCA board connector bracket to the tray.
