HP Printers - Cannot Find Serscan.sys File During Network Install (Windows XP)
Issue
Solution
Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Create a new folder on your desktop called Driver. To do this, right-click anywhere on the desktop, click New, and then click Folder.

Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the computer's CD drive.

Go to the CD's \i386\directory.
note:
If you purchased the computer with the Windows software already installed, search the computer's hard disk for serscan.sys.Figure : Windows \ i386 \ directory. -
Find and open the drivers.cab file using WinZip, and extract the file serscan.sys to the Driver folder you created on the desktop.

Start the product's installer again.

When the installer program asks you for the serscan.sys file, access the Driver folder on the desktop. The installer automatically accesses the file to complete the installation.
