Issue

While printing from Microsoft Word or any other application, the printer prints the following error message:
PCL-XL ERROR   SUBSYSTEM TEXT ERROR   INSUFFICIENT MEMORY OPERATOR   TEXT POSITION 204
The Text Position number might vary.

Solution

The possible reasons for this error message are as follows:
  • The document is containing both image and text.
  • The font is not supported.
  • Embedded fonts are used.
  • A special plug-in is used.
This issue can be fixed by enabling the following option in Printer Preferences.
To access Printer Preferences, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Open Printers and Faxes.
  3. Right-click HP Color LaserJet CM2320 MFP Series PCL 6, and select Printing Preferences.
  4. Under the Advanced tab, change the Print Data Optimization from Auto to Optimize for Text and Vector.
  5. Now try printing the document.
