HP Scanjet G2410 and 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner series - "Error 1904 Module…" message received during software installation

During the installation of the HP software, the following error message displays on the computer:
Error 1904 Module C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqcxs08.dll failed to register.
The installation stops and the only option is to click Finish or OK.
The following solutions require you to log in as a user with administrator rights. If you do not have administrator rights, contact your system administrator for assistance.
This document contains information about how to modify the registry. The registry should be backed up before modifying it. Make sure that you know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. If you use the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. HP cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using the Registry Editor incorrectly. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.
For more information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 256986, titled "Windows registry information for advanced users."
Complete the following steps to back up Windows registry:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click the key that contains the value that you want to edit
  4. On the File menu, click Export.
  5. In the Save in box, select a location where you want to save the Registration Entries (.reg).
  6. In the File name box, type a file name, and then click Save.
Complete the following steps to assign full control permission for the registry key:
  1. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine
  2. In the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on the Local Machine window, select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost key
  3. Right click SvcHost, then click Permissions.
  4. In the Registry Key Permissions dialog box, select Everyone. (If there is no Everyone icon, create one: Click Add, select Everyone in the Add Users and Groups dialog box, and then click OK.)
  5. Restart the computer, and try reinstalling the software.
