This document shows you how to clear original document jams. The original document jam can occur in front of the scanner or inside the scanner. When a document jams while passing through the dual scan document feeder (DSDF), a warning message appears on the display.
In front of the scanner
Use these steps to clear original document jams from in front of the scanner.
caution:To avoid tearing the document, remove the jammed document slowly and gently.
note:To prevent document jams, use the document glass for thick, thin, or mixed paper-type documents.

Remove any remaining pages from the DSDF.

Open the DSDF cover.

Inside the scanner
Use these steps to clear original document jams from inside the scanner.

Remove any remaining pages from the DSDF.

Gently remove the jammed paper from the DSDF. If you cannot grasp the jammed paper, use lever as shown in the picture below.Figure : Remove the jammed paperIf you do not see paper in this area, go to the next step.

Open the DSDF input tray.Figure : Open the input tray

Pull the jammed paper gently out of the DSDF.Figure : Remove the jammed paperIf you do not see paper in this area, go to the next step.

Close the DSDF cover and the DSDF input tray.

Grasp the jammed paper, and remove the paper from the feed area by carefully pulling it using both hands.Figure : Remove the jammed paper

Close the DSDF.
