HP OMEN X Desktop PCs - Configuring the LED Lighting with the HP OMEN Control App

This document applies to HP OMEN X Desktop computers with customizable LED lights.

The HP OMEN Control app allows you to customize the LED lights on HP OMEN computers. Lighting mode options include single or multi-stage light sequences, system usage and temperature indicators, audio show, or completely off.

Open OMEN Control and set up a profile

Set up the OMEN Control app.

In Windows, search for and open OMEN Control.

The OMEN Control app opens.
Click the Profile Name field.

Click New Profile.
Type the desired name for the new profile.

Press Enter to save the profile name.

Customize the LED lighting

Set up the OMEN LED lights for single or multi-stage light sequences, system usage and temperature indicators, audio show, or turn off the lights completely.

Select any of the following sections to learn about configuring the lighting scheme:

Static Colors

Configure the OMEN LED lights to have a single, static color scheme.

In the OMEN Control window, click the lighting type field.

Click Static Colors.
Click one of the nine zones to configure the color for that zone. The zones are the four arrows pointing out, the four arrows pointing in, and the OMEN logo.

The color selection window opens.

Color selection wheel

Saturation bar
Use the color wheel to select the desired color for the zone selected.
Use the saturation bar to set the desired color saturation.

note:
Use the Apply to All button to change all nine zones to the currently selected color and saturation level.
Click a different zone to save the currently selected color and saturation.
Use the brightness bar to set the level of brightness for all nine zones.

Color Show

Configure the OMEN LED lights to have a multi-stage light show color scheme. The LED lights will run through a sequence of two to four customizable color configurations.

In the OMEN Control window, click the lighting type field.

Click Color Show.
Use the add () or remove () icons to set the number of color schemes in the color show sequence.

The slider determines how long each scheme is displayed in the sequence. Move the indicator left to cycle through the sequence faster, right to cycle slower.

Remove color scheme

Click the number of the color scheme to edit the colors displayed for that scheme.
Click one of the nine zones to configure the color for that zone. The zones are the four arrows pointing out, the four arrows pointing in, and the OMEN logo.

The color selection window opens.

Saturation bar
Use the color wheel to select the desired color for the zone selected.
Use the saturation bar to set the desired color saturation.

note:
Use the Apply to All button to change all nine zones to the currently selected color and saturation level.
Click a different zone to save the currently selected color and saturation.
Click each color scheme to configure the zones for that portion of the sequence.
Use the brightness bar to set the level of brightness for all nine zones in each color scheme.

System Monitor

Configure the OMEN LED lights to change colors based upon system usage and temperature.

In the OMEN Control window, click the lighting type field.

Click System Monitor.
Click one of the four diamond-shaped zones to select the type of system monitoring to be displayed in that zone.

The monitor type menu opens.

Click the type of monitoring that is to be displayed in the selected zone.

There are four types of monitoring available.
- CPU Usage depicts the percentage of maximum CPU performance currently being used
- GPU Usage depicts the percentage of maximum GPU performance currently being used
- CPU Temperature portrays the current temperature of the CPU
- GPU Temperature portrays the current temperature of the GPU
Click the color spectrum to be associated with the monitoring type chosen.
Click each zone to choose the monitoring type and color spectrum.
Use the brightness bar to set the level of brightness for all four zones.

Audio Show

Configure the OMEN LED lights to change based upon audio output.

In the OMEN Control window, click the lighting type field.

Click Audio Show.
Click the outer diamond to select the color to be associated with the treble audio output.

Use the color wheel to select the desired color for the zone selected.
Use the saturation bar to set the desired color saturation.

note:
Use the Apply to All button to change all nine zones to the currently selected color and saturation level.
Click the inner X to select the color to be associated with the bass audio output.
