HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Printers - 50.xx.yz Errors

When a 50.xx.yz Fuser error To continue turn off then on is displayed on the control panel, it indicates that there is an issue with the fuser. The XX and YZ are two digit codes that provide information on the specific issue causing the error.
Step one: Turn the printer off and back on
Press the power button to turn the printer off, and then back on to clear the error.

Step two: Plug the power cord directly into a wall socket
Unplug the printer from any power-strip or uninterruptible power supply, and plug it directly into a wall socket.
Step three: Verify the paper type
Verify that the paper type selected matches the type being used in the printer.
Select the paper type (Windows)
  1. From the software program, select the Print option.
  2. Select the printer, and then click the Properties or Preferences button.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. From the Paper type drop-down list, click the More... option.
  5. Expand the list of Type is: options.
  6. Expand the category of paper types that best describes your paper.
Select the paper type (Mac OS X)
  1. Click the File menu, and then click the Print option.
  2. In the Printer menu, select the printer.
  3. By default, the print driver displays the Copies & Pages menu. Open the menus drop-down list, and then click the Finishing menu.
  4. Select a type from the Media Type drop-down list.
Step four: Verify the print mode setting
  1. From the Home screen on the control panel, touch the Administration button.
  2. Touch General Settings.
  3. Touch Print Quality.
  4. Touch Adjust Paper Types.
  5. Select a paper type, and then select the mode to adjust.
  6. Select a value for the mode, and then touch the Save button.
Step five: Reseat the fuser
  1. Turn the printer off.
    Turn the printer off, wait five seconds, and then remove the power cord.
  2. Disconnect the power cord.
  3. Open the upper right door. Your printer will look like one of the following printers.

  4. Locate the fuser.
  5. Grasp the fuser handles, lift up slightly, and then pull the fuser straight out of the printer to remove it. Paper could be jammed inside the fuser where it would not be visible.

    The fuser can be hot while the printer is in use.
  6. Push the fuser completely into the printer.

  7. Close the upper right door. Your printer will look like one of the following printers.

Step six: Ensure the proper environment
Make sure that the printer is not in a drafty location. For example, in front of a vent or window where cool air might interfere with the fuser’s ability to heat up.
Step seven: Contact HP
If the issue continues, contact HP technical support to perform additional troubleshooting steps.
