HP Z400, Z600, and Z800 Workstations - Workstations Display Blue Screen Error or Boot Error

DESCRIPTION
The workstations mentioned in the SCOPE section may display a blue screen error or boot error.
While running Microsoft Windows XP, the blue screen error message: STOP 0x0000000A appears. While running Microsoft Windows Vista, an error message appears and you are unable to use the workstation.
The issue occurs when the RAID option ROM is disabled. The RAID driver does not unload gracefully causing the blue screen error in Microsoft Windows XP and error message in Microsoft Windows Vista.

SCOPE
  • HP Z400 and HP Z600 Workstations that have a LSI 3041E SAS controller installed
  • HP Z800 Workstation
  • Workstations having any one of the following operating systems :
    • Microsoft Windows XP (32-bit)
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64
    • Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)
    • Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
  • Workstations configured to boot from a SAS controller
  • The SATA RAID Option ROM is disabled in F10 Setup
  • The Intel Matrix Storage Manager (IMSM) driver revision is earlier than v 8.8.
RESOLUTION
In order to resolve this issue, do one of the following.
  • Enable the SATA RAID Option ROM in F10 Setup.
  • Update the IMSM driver to revision v 8.8 or higher.
