HP OfficeJet 8010, Pro 8020 and 8030 Printers - First Time Printer Setup

This document is for HP OfficeJet 8010, 8012, 8013, 8015, 8022, and Pro 8020, 8021, 8022, 8023, 8024, 8025, 8026, 8028, and 8035 All-in-One printers.
To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer from the box, connect the power cord, install the ink cartridges, load paper, and then align the printhead.
nota:
If you are looking for the printer software, go to 123.hp.com.

Step 1: Remove the printer from the box

  4. Remove an ink cartridge from its package, and then pull the orange pull-tab straight back to remove the plastic wrap.
      atención:
Make sure you remove the orange pull-tab and plastic wrap completely before you remove the orange cap in the next step. Otherwise, ink might leak from the ink cartridge. When you remove the plastic wrap, the paper label on the top of the ink cartridge tears slightly, which is necessary to properly vent the ink cartridge.
Pulling the orange tab on the wrapper straight back
  5. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides, and then twist the orange cap counter-clockwise to remove it from the ink cartridge.
Twisting the orange cap to snap it off the cartridge

  4. Insert the input tray into the printer.
  5. On the printer control panel, touch OK.
    An alignment page prints.
  6. Open the scanner lid, and then place the alignment page on the scanner glass. Place the page face down with the top of the page aligned to the engraved guides near the back corner of the glass.
Placing the alignment page on the scanner glass
  7. Close the scanner lid, and then touch Scan.
The printer scans the alignment page, and an Alignment Successful message displays on the control panel.
  8. Recycle the alignment page and packing materials.

If you plan on using the fax feature, use the fax cord that came with your printer to connect to an available landline.
Connect the fax cord to the phone wall jack, and then connect the other end into the LINE port jack on the rear of the printer.
If you are using an answering machine, connect the fax cord to the machine, and then connect the other end to the EXT fax port jack.
For additional information, go to How to Fax.

Step 6: Install the printer software

Your HP printer hardware is now set up, and you can install the printing software. Do not attempt to connect the printer to a computer until instructed to do so during software installation.
