Learn how to change the default-set factory PIN or administrator password for the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Some printer settings in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) are password protected and will require the factory-set default PIN. Typically, this PIN is set as the administrator (or admin) password for the EWS. To assign a new admin password, use the instructions in this document.
This document applies to the following HP LaserJet Pro printers:
HP LaserJet Pro 4001-4004n/dn/dw Printer series
HP LaserJet Pro 4001-4004ne/dne/dwe HP+ Printer series
HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101-4104dw/fdn/fdw Printer series
HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101-4104dwe/fdne/fdwe HP+ Printer series
Make sure to obtain the factory-set default PIN. The factory-set default PIN is located on a label inside the cartridge access door on the front of the printer.
The factory-set default PIN can be updated during initial printer set up on HP LaserJet Pro 4001-4004 and HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101-4104 Standard printer model series manufactured since January 2023. For these printer models, ensure to obtain the updated 8-digit Admin PIN.
