HP Color LaserJet Managed E55040 - Replace the toner-collection unit

Introduction

The following information provides details about the toner-collection unit for the printer, and it includes instructions to replace it.

The printer indicates when the toner-collection unit is nearly full and when it is completely full. When it is completely full, printing stops until the toner-collection unit is replaced.

To purchase a toner-collection unit (part number B5L37A), go to the HP Parts Store at www.hp.com/buy/parts.

note:
The toner-collection unit is designed for a single use. Do not attempt to empty the toner-collection unit and reuse it. Doing so could lead to toner being spilled inside the printer, which could result in reduced print quality. After use, return the toner-collection unit to HP’s Planet Partners program for recycling.

caution:
If toner gets on clothing, wipe it off by using a dry cloth and wash the clothes in cold water. Hot water sets toner into fabric.

Remove and replace the toner-collection unit

Open the front door.

Open the toner-collection unit door on the upper-left side of the printer.

Pull out the toner-collection unit and the attached door.

Remove the new toner-collection unit from its packaging.

Install the new toner-collection unit and the attached door into the printer. Align the tabs on the door with the slots in the printer.

Close the toner-collection unit door.

To recycle the used toner-collection unit, follow the instructions included with the new toner-collection unit.
