HP LaserJet Enterprise - Firmware update required to ensure hard drive reliability

Issue

Select HP LaserJet Enterprise printer models may encounter decreased hard drive reliability when the device has FutureSmart Firmware Bundle Version 3.2.0 installed.

Solution

Check the firmware version that is currently installed and update the firmware if necessary.
To obtain the IP address and determine the version of firmware currently installed on the printer, print a configuration page.
  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, scroll to and open the following menus:
    • Administration
    • Reports
    • Configuration/Status Pages
  2. Select Configuration page and then select Print.
  3. On the printed Configuration Page, look in the "Device Information" section for the Firmware Bundle Version similar to the following example:

    If the Firmware Bundle Version is 3.2 or 3.2.0, update the firmware to FutureSmart Bundle Version 3.2.3 or 3.2.5 or later (depending on the product).
  4. To obtain the latest firmware, use the following chart to open the printer firmware page, find the file for Multiple Operating Systems, and then click Download.
    note:
    HP recommends updating the firmware to FutureSmart Bundle Version 3.2.3 or 3.2.5 or later as soon as possible. If a firmware update cannot be performed immediately, HP recommends using the Workaround listed below as a temporary solution until the firmware can be updated.

Workaround

If a firmware update cannot be performed immediately, use the following workaround as a temporary solution until the firmware can be updated.
  1. Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
    1. Open a Web browser.
    2. In the address field, type the printer IP address exactly as it appears on the Configuration Page, and then press Enter.

    3. If you receive a warning about the website's security certificate, click Continue to this website (not recommended) (this will not impact the browser or PC).
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. In the left pane, click Energy settings.
  4. Under Sleep Timer Settings, make sure the Wake/Auto On Events: option is set to All Events.
    If not, select All Events and then click Apply.
