HP Officejet 150 Mobile Printers - 'Version Mismatch' When Updating Firmware

Issue
During a firmware update, a 'Version Mismatch' message displays on the printer control panel.

This message displays briefly during the firmware update process, and it doesn't indicate a problem with the update. In most cases, you can allow the update to continue, as described in the solution to update the firmware.
Solution: Update the firmware
Follow these steps to update the printer firmware from the HP website.
Step one: Make sure that the printer software is installed
Follow these steps if you need to install the printer software. If you have already installed the printer software, continue to the next step.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
  3. If prompted, select a method to identify your printer model, and then follow the on-screen instructions to go to the download page.
  4. Click Download next to the full feature driver (recommended), or click Basic Drivers for other driver options.
Step two: Update the firmware
  1. Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  3. If prompted, enter your printer model number, click Next, and then click Drivers.
  4. On the Drivers & Downloads page, select your operating system, and then click Next.
  5. Scroll down the page, and then click Firmware.
  6. Click Download next to the firmware update. A welcome screen displays showing current information about your printer.
  7. Find the version number, and then write it down so you can refer to it later in this document.

  8. Click the box next to your printer, and then click Update.

The update progress window displays on your computer and a 'Firmware flashing in progress...' message displays for a few minutes on the printer control panel. When the update is complete, a 'Firmware flashing is completed' message displays on the printer control panel.
Step three: Make sure that the firmware version is updated
You can print a test page to find the current firmware version for your printer.
  1. Load Letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display the second navigation screen.
  3. Touch Setup (), and then touch Reports.
  4. Touch Printer Status Report. The test page prints.
  5. Compare the firmware version number listed on the test page to the version number that you copied from the firmware update welcome screen. If the number is different, the firmware is updated successfully.
