Follow the instructions above each of the three figures below, to ensure all the packing material has been removed.
Figure : Before initial use, the below packaging must be fully removed. Tearing off this visible part of the packaging is NOT sufficient and will result in the "Jam in Cartridge Area" error, if the printer is turned on.
Figure : Turn off the printer. Open the front door (to access the toner cartridge) and remove the white foam if not already removed.
Figure : Remove the toner cartridge and lift out the orange toner lock seen below. If you haven't already, now remove the toner dam (pull the orange ring on the left side of toner cartridge and fully remove the clear plastic strip). Reinstall the print cartridge and turn the printer on to verify the error message has cleared.
If the error message persists, try the following:
-
Verify that the paper being used in the printer complies with the specifications for this printer. You can find paper specifications in the printer User Guide.
-
Open the top cover and remove the print cartridge. Remove any paper or paper fragments.
-
Verify that the toner cartridge is a genuine HP cartridge. Remanufactured cartridges have been found to cause performance issues.
-
Open the rear door and remove any jammed paper or paper fragments in the fuser area.
caution:
The fuser can be hot. Wait until the fuser area has
cooled before clearing the jam.
