HP Photosmart A636 and A637 Photo Printers - Blinking Lights

Introduction

Patterns of blinking or flashing lights on the product can indicate specific issues with the product. Blinking lights also indicate initialization of the product or charging of the battery.

Blinking lights

Use the following information to interpret and respond to blinking lights on the product.
Issue
The On light is blinking green.

Solution
No action required. The product is initializing. Wait for it to finish.
Cause
The product is processing a job, such as print, scan, copy, or alignment.
Issue
The On light is steady green.

No action required.
Cause
The product is on and ready to print.
Issue
The Status light is blinking red. The product requires attention.

Solution
  1. If the product is connected to a camera, check the image display for instructions.
  2. Turn off the product.
    • Follow these steps if the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is not installed in the product.
      1. Unplug the product power cord.
      2. Wait 30 seconds.
      3. Plug the power cord back in and turn on the product.
    • Follow these steps if the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is installed in the product.
      1. Unplug the product power cord if it is plugged in.
      2. Open the battery compartment cover and remove the battery.
          caution:
        Do not touch the contacts inside the product or on the battery.
      3. Wait 10 seconds and reinstall the battery.
      4. Plug in the power cord and turn on the product.
  3. If the Status light continues to flash, service the product.
Cause
An error in the product has occurred.
Issue
The Memory card and Pictbridge light flashes green for a few seconds, and then remains steady.

Cause
  • The memory card is correctly inserted.
  • The supported device is attached to the camera port.

The Memory and Pictbridge light is blinking green.

note:
Do not remove a memory card or disconnect a camera if the light is blinking green.
Cause
  • The product is communicating with the memory card or attached camera.
  • Computer is performing a read, write or delete operation.

The Battery light is blinking red.
