HP Designjet T and Z Printer Series - Replacing Formatter and HDD

Environment

Designjet Formatter and HDD replacement
Designjets Z2100, Z3100, Z3200, Z5200, and Z5400
Designjets T610, T620, T770, T790, T1100, T1120, T1120HD, T1120HD, T1200, T1300, T2300, and T2500

Questions/Symptoms

Error 08:11
Front panel stuck at 94% initializing
Front panel is blank
Printer does not start
Customer self Repair (CSR) part
Customer self replacement

Cause

Customer needs to remove/replace the Formatter or HDD

Answer/Solution


1. Fully loosen the two locking thumbscrews that secure the Formatter in the printer.

2. Begin lifting the Formatter from the printer. Push the clips and provide upward force at the same time.

3. Lift the Formatter out of the printer.

***Removing the HDD

1. Remove the four crosstread screws that secure the Hard Disk Drive from behind. Turn the Formatter to the opposite side.

2. Disconnect and remove the Hard Disk Drive.Take care not to damage the Formatter components under the Hard Disk Drive, when HDD is removed.
